Not our best Valentine's Day

Yesterday was quite a long day for us! We started our day by taking Matthew to the orthopedist to hear the results of his MRI. Thankfully it was good news! He has a bicameral cyst, also known as a simple cyst, in his arm. It is not cancerous! Praise God!! A simple cyst usually heals on its own as children reach maturity. His doctor is optimistic his will do just that. So he has to avoid any physical activity for 6 weeks while the fracture heals. We will go back in 6 weeks for an x-ray to make sure the fracture has healed. We will then go back in 6 months and a year to have an x-ray to check on the cyst. As long as he has the cyst he will be more prone to fractures in that arm.

After Matthew’s appointment, we took him back to school. Not even an hour after we dropped him off at school, we got a call from the school nurse saying that he is running a fever! When Hannah got home from school, she was running a fever too!! I made an appointment with their doctor for the next morning to find out what is going on. As the evening went on I started running a low grade fever. We decided to go to the after hours clinic instead of waiting until tomorrow.

By the time we got to the after hours clinic, Hannah’s fever had spiked to 104 and she was feeling miserable. We gave her some Motrin as she waited to see the doctor. It turns out that Hannah and Matthew both have the flu. Hannah has had it too long to take Tamiflu, but Matthew is taking it since his symptoms started that day. The doctor doesn’t think I have the flu, but thinks I have both a cold and allergies.

Today we are just sitting around watching TV and doing some cleaning as we feel up to it. The house is in pitiful shape from all of us being under the weather and running from one doctor appointment to another. We are being careful to pace ourselves though.

So this is a good news/bad news post, huh? Well, I'm praising God for your good news and petitioning Him for your bad news. Our oldest has the flu...so far no one else has come down with any symptoms.

Aw, I'm sorry there's so much sickness at your house. I'm very glad to hear that Matthew's arm thing is "just a cyst".

Praise the Lord for Matthew's good report but I'm sorry you are dealing with a flu epidemic.
