Happy Birthday Sean!!

Today my baby turned THREE!! Where has the time gone?!? He loved helping me make his wheat-free cupcakes today. He also thought it was a lot of fun decorating his cupcake with sprinkles and putting that big number 3 candle on top.

Sadly, we didn't do much more than that for his birthday. I am still sick. I have been sick for most of this month and it is getting old!

Today was also Hannah's first basketball game. It was her team's second game, but her first. She missed the first game because she had strep throat that weekend. Of course I missed the game, but Chris tells me she did really well. Her team won 33-6.

Sean's tooth

Last night Sean had a bad night. He kept falling and bumping into things. He ran into an open cabinet and cut his ear, he slipped on some unseen thing in the kitchen and bumped his head, he jammed his toe on a kitchen chair. The worst fall though was when he was playing with a big Tonka truck with Matthew and fell and bumped his tooth. He now has a big purple knot above the tooth! So we have a dentist appointment this morning.

This is one of the teeth that he nearly lost when he was a year old. He he fell outside the library and pushed his top teeth straight back towards the roof of his mouth. Thankfully the dentist was able to pull the teeth forward and push them back into their sockets. One tooth survived perfectly...it didn't darken and it didn't chip. The other tooth, however, didn't fare so well. it was chipped and a tad bit darker. That is the tooth that has the purple knot above it. (I'm sure I have told that story here before, but it seemed fitting to tell/retell it today.)

UPDATE:

The dentist took x-rays of his teeth and looked at his gums (which, by the way, looked much better when we got there than they did at home). She said his teeth are a little loose, but there's no damage to them. We just need to keep an eye out for any redness or swelling. He goes back in April for his regular 6 month check up, so they said they will do x-rays again. I feel much better now!

Here are some random pictures Hannah took with her camera:

Okay, well Hannah didn't take this one, Rebeckah did, but it was with Hannah's camera.

This is Hannah with her new hair cut....sort of....she has it pulled in a ponytail for basketball.

Poor Matthew

Today is Matthew's third day in a row to miss school. Friday morning he woke up with a fever of 103. We gave him some Tylenol but as the morning went on he said his ear was hurting a lot and then he started to complain that his throat hurt. He took more Tylenol at 12:30 and by the time he got to the doctor for his 2:30 appointment his fever was back up to 102! The doctor said he has a raging ear infection, strep throat and his lymph nodes are very swollen (by this point you could SEE the lumps in his neck). When he got home from the doctor he went straight to the couch and went to sleep. He slept all night except when we woke him up to give him his antibiotic and to make him drink something.

Saturday he slept most of the day too. We couldn't get his fever under control with Tylenol and so we changed to Motrin and presto, his fever was down. He still looked miserable, but he didn't look as lifeless as he did before the Motrin. Sunday was pretty much like Saturday. We kept him home from school yesterday to be safe. He was back to his old self and was fever free all day.

This morning when Chris woke him up for school he discovered he was burning up again! We took him back to the doctor since he still has fever, his throat hurts some and his ear hurts when he swallows and he said his head was hurting. The doctor said his throat is still pretty red and his ear is still filled with pus. She was amazed that he said his ear only hurts when he swallows. He has always had an amazingly high tolerance for ear pain.

His fever is returning as I type this, so it looks like he won't be at school tomorrow either! It is awful to see your kids so sick.

Colorful Kitchen

We had a minor mishap in the kitchen tonight that resulted in our kitchen looking like it was covered in confetti! Instead of paper though, it was half of a Sam's size bag of M&Ms. (For some reason the date on the camera changed to 1/1/06...guess I need to fix that.)

Happy New Year!!

I did not ring in the new year in a very ideal way! I have been feeling under the weather for a while since Christmas....sinus issues and sore throat. New Year's Eve we headed to my parents house for a quick over night visit. I started feeling miserable on the ride there. I told Chris I was feeling all achy. He reached over and felt my face and told me I was running a fever. I went from bad to worse overnight. Wednesday I was able to get to the doctor and found out I had strep throat. It wiped my rear end out! I was in bed until Friday! Saturday was the first day I felt like my old self in a long time.

On December 27th we took Sean to see Disney Playhouse Live. I was so mad at myself for forgetting the camera. That is, until we got to the door and I heard them tell a couple of people in front of us that they will not allow cameras in there and they will need to put their camera in their car before they could let them in the building! I would have been so mad if I had had to make that hike back to the car. Sean's reaction the first time he saw Mickey Mouse was priceless though! He was in amazement that Mickey was there in person. They had all of his favorite characters there; Mickey, The Little Einsteins, Pooh and Tigger and Handy Manny. As each character came out he was equally amazed. He just sat there mesmerized for about 90% of the show. Just as he was starting to get into it and interacting with the show, it ended.

Soon it will be Girl Scout cookie sale time!
