Backyard Bible Club Week

This week was Backyard Bible Club week for our church. BYBC is our church's version of VBS. It is lead by the teens that are incoming 8th graders through incoming 12th graders. Each team this year was made up of 4 teens each. We had 12 teams, with all of them going to 4 clubs a day. One team (the team that came to our house) had only 3 clubs. Church members sign up to host a club or to drive the teens to the clubs. This was Rebeckah's first year to be on a team. She said she had a great time and is looking forward to doing it again next year.

BYBC week is always a long, exhausting and yet rewarding week. We had a great turn out at our club this year and the kids had a great time. Today at church our pastor said that there were 590 kids that attended the clubs and there were 14 that accepted Christ!
Here are a few pictures of our week:

It was so hot that morning, one of the clubbers found a way to cool off!

Wednesday is "Wet and wild Wednesday" and is always a favorite with the kids. They get to play lots of water games and drench the teens. This year, Chris invited them to swim after the club.

Friday night was SummerFest, where all of the kids that attended clubs and their families come to the church for a big carnival.

Sean's first pony ride.

Sean was watching Gospel Adventures. For some reason he thought the characters wanted to take his sausage wrap, so he made sure he hid it behind his back. He would crouch down to take a quick bite and then hide it behind his back again.

The Gospel Adventure team during their performance. Gospel Adventures is what our church does for children's worship for first grade through fourth grade.

I just thought this underpass was interesting, so I took a picture!

As a Cub Scout service project, Matthew's den planted trees at Matthew's school. The top picture is the tree Matthew and Chris planted behind the school. The bottom picture is the tree that they planted in the front of the school.

You have had a busy summer! I'm sure the kids had a blast. Maybe someday our church will look into Backyard Bible Studies. It sounds like a great way to reach the neighborhood kids!

Hey, Matthew, do you think you could come to Illinois and plant some trees in my backyard?! LOL
