Matthew's Birthday

Yesterday was Matthew’s 8th birthday. We started our morning with our traditional cake and ice cream for breakfast. (They did eat traditional breakfast foods as well!) In the afternoon we went to a baseball game. If it hadn’t been for the wind it would have been a beautiful day to watch a baseball game. It was in the mid 70s, but the wind had enough chill to it to make it a bit uncomfortable. We had berm seating so we all sat huddled together under our blanket. I am just kicking myself though for forgetting the camera. My son’s 8th birthday and not a picture to show for it! I blame everything like that on my “pregnancy brain”, which, by the way, seems to be worse than ever! Rebeckah did bring her camera, but it decided it didn’t want to work that day.

The kids had a great time. Hannah nearly caught a ball the outfielder caught and threw out to the crowd. Sean thoroughly enjoyed his cotton candy. He kept a steady pace of feeding his face! When he was finished he had blue hands and a blue beard. I (along with Austin and Hannah) enjoyed funnel cakes, while Matthew and Rebeckah had snow cones. After a few innings, I took the younger three to the playscapes to burn off some energy. Wouldn’t you know it, that is when the team scored two homeruns! I missed them both because you can’t see the field from the playscapes. We knew they scored homeruns because we were right near where the fireworks were set off after each homerun. The remainder of our time at the game (we left during the 8th inning) Sean and Matthew spent their time running up and down the hill we were sitting on.

Sean was so worn out he fell asleep about 2 seconds after we buckled him in his car seat. We went to Taco Bueno after the game (Matthew’s choice) and Sean slept on Chris’ lap nearly the entire time! He woke up just as we were finishing and man was he cranky! I am so thankful we weren’t able to convince Matthew he wanted to go to a “sit down” restaurant instead of a fast food place.

Since I don't have any pictures from yesterday, I thought I would add a few pictures of Matthew when he was a baby.

Rebeckah (5), Austin (3), Matthew (one month), Hannah (17 months)
